Planning a Shower for Baby Boy

My sister is having a baby. It’s the first baby boy shower that I’ve had a large role in planning. We have a pretty female donated family, so I’m sure he’s bound too shake things up a bit and it sure has been fun planning a shower that isn’t cotton candy pink.

We’ve been scheming and planning for a couple months and now it’s finally time to put those plans into action.

Before we get to all of that, I thought I’d share the mood board we put together. I always recommend putting together a mood or vision board to help keep you on track. There’s an overwhelm of inspiration readily available and this will help you keep true to your vision no matter what other ideas may come along.

This was the jump start to the planning, helped us select the perfect location and source decor items – either online or things that we already had in our homes (we’re a family full of decorators, we already had A LOT of decor!) Having a mood board makes sure that everyone stays on the same page.

The overall theme is puppies, gingham and toile. My sister is using puppies as the theme for the baby’s room, mainly golden doodles like their own little pup. My mother and aunt both have large collections of vintage and vintage-look blue plates. And I just love gingham – especially for a sweet baby. Combining those three items easily set the mood for the celebration.

It’s fun having the ideas in your head but when you start seeing them come together in real life, that’s when the magic really happens. I started pulling pieces of decor, vases and piling everything together yesterday and now it’s real. All that’s left to do now is pack up the car and set up on Saturday!

Some of the pieces I’m using on Saturday have been collected throughout the years, are vintage or are no longer available. However I did also source a few new pieces and am sharing how you can make your very own puppy, gingham and toile inspired party below.

You can shop all of these items HERE.

I can’t wait to show you the results!
